Menswear designer John Varvatos held court last Saturday night to kick of the Hamptons summer. The cocktail party at his East Hamptons boutique was also in honor of the launch of Beach Magazine.
The Varvatos label has always paid homage to rock n'roll. It really made that clear when they took over the former CBGB's space. They went out of their way to keep the atmosphere and preserved as much of the old graffiti and artifacts as they could. The Long Island boutique has exposed brick and photos of music greats, but for the crowd, it looks a little too polished to achieve the same vibe.
The fashion and Hamptons crowd sipped prosecco or pink grapefruit cocktails while they shopped printed tees and fantastic, pop color shoes. I found one great sale associate who had a great look (above). I loved his hat/vest/shirt/scarf and multiple tattoo combination.
My interior designer sister-in-law, jewelry designer friend and myself ignored the casual Hamptons dress code and went for straight chic.
